As sports car racing has continued to increase in cost, Stan has added bicycle racing to his racing activities. It may be a less expensive racing budget for equipment and race entries, but the level of physical training is even higher than that of sports cars.
Wilson puts in 8 - 10 hours per week in physical training to be able to race at speeds averaging 25 MPH for 45 minutes in fields up to 100 bicycles in size. The training alone is about 100 miles per week. The races are in addition to all the training time and mileage.
Stan races bicycles to improve all aspects of his ability behind the wheel of high powered racing machines. The race craft and endurance learned while racing bicycles is very helpful in road racing cars.
